Any questions?

Please note the following:

Adoptions and foster care placements

Our children's ages range from 2-18, and most of them are in contact with their parents or other relatives. We do not handle any adoptions, but can refer you to another BADISA program in Boston called Magdalena Huis on 021 948 3637 or 949 1656 who might be able to assist.

For foster care placements, kindly contact your nearest Social Work,  ACVV or any Child Welfare Office as again, we do not handle these matters. Contact numbers in the Bellville/Cape Town area as follows:

  • Department of Social Development: 021 940 7100
  • ACVV Head Office, Zonnenbloem: 021 461 7437
  • Child Welfare: 021 638 3127

Past residents of our Home

Please note we can only assist when you have a query related to children who were in our home in the past if you can supply us with the child's correct name and surname as well as date of birth.

Children who were in the Home are allowed to come in and read through their files, but this is done strictly by appointment with at least 2 weeks notice. Kindly contact our Social Work Team on 021 975 6822 to make an appointment: a social worker will then need to find the relevant files in the archive and will also be present for this appointment, which is scheduled during office hours only.

Please note that details for children who were adopted and whose surnames changed, must be requested from the Registrar of Births and Deaths in Pretoria. We can unfortunately not assist with the finding of siblings, or children who were in our Home many, many years ago. It gets a bit complicated as sometimes the only information we have to hand is the placement address. Your cooperation and understanding in this regard will be appreciated.

Community Service Students/School Projects

We are very grateful for the interest and enthusiasm of schools and students to become involved, however we do have limited space available each term. We therefore allow students on a 'first come first serve' basis and ask for your understanding in this regard but will try to refer the students elsewhere should we not be able to accommodate them. Please note that students are welcome and encouraged to attend the information session on the last Tuesday of every month to obtain more information for their projects. See detail below.

Information session

A compulsary information session is held on the last Tuesday of every month, Jan-Oct at 6.30pm at the Children's Home. This is the first step to becoming a volunteer and you're welcome to arrive without confirmation.
