Get involved - Volunteer Programme
HALF OF THE YEAR HAS PASSED... AND WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL AND FORTUNATE TO BE IN THE POSITION THAT OUR INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER PROGAM IS FULL FOR 2010. WE WELCOME APPLICATIONS FOR 2011 ONWARDS.
The Durbanville Children's Home needs volunteers to help with the implementation of all our programmes and to ensure the best care for our children. Volunteers are involved in all aspects of our programmes and work under staff supervision. Areas that volunteers are involved in are as follows:
• Management • Administration • Childcare • Sport and recreation • Logistics • Transport • Therapy
We are very grateful that most positions in the above mentioned areas have been filled so far, however there is always a need for the following:
- Homework
- Sports & Recreation
- Transport
Should you be interested in assisting in any of the above areas, please attend a compulsory information session on the last Tuesday of every month at 6.30pm at the Children's Home. Application forms will be handed out and on receipt of the completed form, the selection process starts. Please note that the last session for 2010 will be on the 26th of October.
After a person has been selected the decision on the type of voluntary work is based on the skills of that person and the needs of the Children’s Home. Please note that our weekend/holiday friends undergo a second phase of selection.
Should you have any queries, kindly attend our information session on the last Tuesday of every month Jan-Oct or click here to send us an email.
Please note: Unfortunately we do not handle any adoptions or foster care requests. Please contact your nearest Social Services Office for help and advice. Should you reside in the Bellville area, you are welcome to contact Magdalena House (also a BADISA program) in Boston on 021 948 3637. |
