History
During 1883 six neglected children were found in the streets of Cape Town. The children were at first housed with private families, but as a result of the great pox epidemic, a large building was needed. In 1899 the Kinderzendinghuis was established in Cape Town.
In 1918 an extension was needed and “Sweet Home” in Durbanville was purchased, later to become the current premises of the Durbanville Children’s Home.
The Children’s Home is a programme of BADISA – a joint ministry of the Dutch Reformed Church (Western and Southern Cape) and the United Reformed Church of SA (Cape Province).
We are a registered non-profit organisation, NPO 011-891.
